Even the most seasoned travelers need a little advice from time to time. At Elite Travel we are able to address any and every question you might have about your vacation.

What types of clothing should I pack?

1. Coordinate your clothes around one or two basic colors. This cuts down on the number of shoes and accessories you have to bring.

2. Take as few clothes as possible. Plan on wearing underwear and socks once, shirts twice and pants at least 3 times. Unless you are hiking, shorts in public are absoultely not acceptable, especially in Europe!

3. Wear and carry washable silk clothing or polyester blends whenever possible. It is as warm as and as cool as cotton. It dries overnight and 10-15 pieces take no more room than two pair jeans. There are some other manmade fabrics that travel as well if not better, but they cost quite a bit more.

4. Plastic rain coat can double as a bathrobe or windbreaker. In cool weather wear layers instead of a heavy coat.

5. Take older clothes that can be discarded along the way. Great for growing children. In many places, the local people are pleased to get these castoffs. There are travelers who take nothing but old clothes so they have that much more room for bringing souvenirs.

6. Unless you are doing active outdoor activities, leave your jeans at home. You will not see Europeans wearing them. Khakis or trousers are much more acceptable and you can pack 2 or 3 pairs of khaki pants in the place of one pair of jeans.

7. Europeans think that gym clothes including tennis shoes belong in the gym. Wear good comfortable leather or synthetic walking shoes. Many upscale resturants, casinos and similar establishments will not allow entrance to people wearing tennis shoes.

8. Remember you are functioning under foreign social customs, not American. If you want to be treated well in a foreign country, try to be aware of the social and dress norms and function as much as possible within those rules.
